Our Story
JML Engineering Ltd. was founded in 1998 by John M. Lorenowich and Bill Warren in Thunder Bay Ontario after having their Department shut down at a previous employer. Within the first year new employees were hired as new projects were brought in and in 1999 they moved into the current office location at 105 Villa Street in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
At the current location the office was expanded in 2008 to add new offices, workstations, boardroom and field room. Throughout the remainder of the 2000’s and 2010’s John and Bill worked to grow JML Engineering into one of the top civil/structural engineering firms in the City of Thunder Bay and Northern Ontario. This was done by providing the highest possible quality of engineering service to ensure that every new client turned into a repeat client.
In 2021, John and Bill welcomed George McKay and Michael Edmonds to the Management Team. George and Michael worked to learn the inner workings of the company to ensure a smooth transition once the founders of JML Engineering decided to embrace semi-retirement. In 2022 Bill Warren stepped down from Management but has remained active with the company working on projects as required.
John then worked closely with George and Michael over the next few years to ensure that the management transition would be seamless. In 2024 John Lorenowich transitioned to part-time employment to allow George McKay and Michael Edmonds to become the sole Managing Partners of JML Engineering. John remains active in Quality Assurance and as a Structural/Civil Engineering Specialist on projects undertaken by JML Engineering.
JML Engineering’s current senior staff has more than 20 years of consulting engineering experience in Northern Ontario and through Canada. They have participated as project managers and senior design engineers for several large and diverse capital projects. JML Engineering’s founding Principals remain active with the company and can step in should a project require senior expertise.
