Rehabilitation of Nanooik Bridge

Rehabilitation of Nanooik Bridge

Description

JML Engineering was awarded Rehabilitation of the Nanooik Bridge located on the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninug First Nation (Big Trout Lake) in March of 2022.  The modular bridge is located on the winter road network to the community and allows the Nemeigusabins Lake Tributary to be crossed in early or late winter.

The project was initiated with a field investigation to complete a structural inspection the bridge to confirm previous inspection reports and that no further structural deficiencies were present.

A structural inspection confirmed that the existing bridge superstructure (modular bridge components and bridge deck) could be salvaged and that the abutments required replacement with new timber cribs.  A drawing package showing a General Arrangement of the Rehabilitation Structure, Demolition Drawings and Details of the new Timber Cribs were prepared by JML Engineering.

JML Engineering administered the tender for the project which was awarded in December 2023.  Construction work was completed in March 2024.
